The machinery and tooling for Versatech metals are almost identical to those used in normal metal fabrication.

When bending tight radii – 0 to 2T we recommend warming the material first to a minimum 20˚C allowing the film to stretch more easily and with reduced risk of distortion.

Yes, the process typically has no adverse effects on the material what so ever.

All our films can be exposed to a continuous heat of 80˚C with intermittent temperatures of 100˚C. Our Versatech films also reflect heat reducing temperature buildup of the substrate below.

Mechanical fastening and adhesive bonding are usually used to join pre-finished metals. Welding – Versatech can be welded without causing film damage by using Magnetic force or capacitor discharge welding techniques. – seek advice from Versatech for your specific welding application.

Absolutely….there is an obvious lead time associated and a minimum order quantity but such as the Cola-Cola example below we can print to your own design. This Cola-cola film when applied to a steel substrate was used to form the outside of drink vending machines.

If a stocked film and substrate is selected from our range then the turn around is typically a week. Once manufactured the material has a 40 hour cure time before dispatch.

Pre-finished metals and incredibly resilient to scratching or abrasion and as such are a common choice for high traffic areas or skirting boards that take a lot of hammer.
Unlike painted materials any scratch’s or scuffs will not expose the metal underneath. The top film colour is consistent all the way through providing greater protection. Just clean and coat with a product like Mr Sheen or Armor All to greatly reduce any visible differences.

The PVDF transparent top layer on the Versatech-EXT films that provides the superior UV protection has a very low surface tension. This low surface tension repels dirt, dust and graffiti. See impressive way graffiti can be removed with simply soap and water. Watch the video.

You may know our pre-finished metals by its previous trading names such as Marvi plate (produced by BHP until 1990) or Versiclad.

Sheeted: We have no minimum order qty for sticked films but it becomes more efficient to absorb the pallet charge the more sheets are put onto this pallet. A typical order per pack would be 50-100 sheets (2400 x 1200) dependent on gauge and weight. Coil: 1 tonne min without incurring a set up charge. Maximum singe coil weight of 2.5 tonnes.

Yes, the film is impervious to corrosive elements and will protect the base metal to which it is adhered. See our specifications page for external usage to see the results of our independent salt spray testing.
